Of disapearing from birls...then realizing how much i miss you guys...then returning, reading all the posts i missed...and feeling sad.
i'm back...and having a great summer thus far.
It's been months i think.

I'm Rachel/23/Genderfluid leaning towards feminine currently/residing in toronto/member of birls since...forever...

My wife and i moved into the house we bought!
We've biked tons, played with the kittends, attended the ontario wine awards, tried many deliscious craft brews, spent time with friends, and most recently visited my family/friends in CT.

We're madly in love...

Tuesday 10 July 1666

Up, and to the office, where busy all the morning, sitting, and there presented Sir W. Coventry with my little book made up of Lovett's varnished paper, which he and the whole board liked very well. At noon home to dinner and then to the office; the yarde being very full of women (I believe above three hundred) coming to get money for their husbands and friends that are prisoners in Holland; and they lay clamouring and swearing and cursing us, that my wife and I were afeard to send a venison-pasty that we have for supper to-night to the cook's to be baked, for fear of their offering violence to it: but it went, and no hurt done. Then I took an opportunity, when they were all gone into the foreyarde, and slipt into the office and there busy all the afternoon, but by and by the women got into the garden, and come all to my closett window, and there tormented me, and I confess their cries were so sad for money, and laying down the condition of their families and their husbands, and what they have done and suffered for the King, and how ill they are used by us, and how well the Dutch are used here by the allowance of their masters, and what their husbands are offered to serve the Dutch abroad, that I do most heartily pity them, and was ready to cry to hear them, but cannot helpe them. However, when the rest were gone, I did call one to me that I heard complaine only and pity her husband and did give her some money, and she blessed me and went away. Anon my business at the office being done I to the Tower to speak with Sir John Robinson about business, principally the bad condition of the pressed men for want of clothes, so it is represented from the fleete, and so to provide them shirts and stockings and drawers. Having done with him about that, I home and there find my wife and the two Mrs. Bateliers walking in the garden. I with them till almost 9 at night, and then they and we and Mrs. Mercer, the mother, and her daughter Anne, and our Mercer, to supper to a good venison-pasty and other good things, and had a good supper, and very merry, Mistresses Bateliers being both very good-humoured. We sang and talked, and then led them home, and there they made us drink; and, among other things, did show us, in cages, some birds brought from about Bourdeaux, that are all fat, and, examining one of them, they are so, almost all fat. Their name is [Ortolans], which are brought over to the King for him to eat, and indeed are excellent things. We parted from them and so home to bed, it being very late, and to bed.

Mothers, eh?

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 10:24 PM

My outfit for graduation consists of a blue and cream 3/4 sleeved shirt, a black pencil skirt with a white belt and flat, black pumps with bows on them.

I feel like a girl.
It keeps mother quiet.

At least my hair is (very) short and purple.

*grin*

Disabling the time.

I was wondering is there a way to disable the time from showing? I would like to have just the date.

Where I Spent The Very Many Years Of A Long And Happy Youth
Built in the 1920's from the coral rock quarry left over from the building of Coral Gables' many coral entrances and walls, the Venetian Pool was the very hallmark of 'The City Beautiful' and it's tony high high society aspirations to stand out from Miami proper...
I was born in Coral Gables in 1954 and raised there. It is no longer the same but still, I miss it terribly. If any part of it has remained much the same it is this world renowned city pool. I didn't realize there were so many youtube videos of the Venetian Pool. There's a great many of them, and deservedly so. It's an incredible place. (Recently renovated yet again, I am saddened to see in these videos that what was once an intricate high dive tower with winding steps and pathways has now been converted to another set of falls. They already had one set next to the caves...) I haven't been back to South Florida in 9 years and am terribly homesick. I have shown plenty of stills of The Venetian Pool to my Lisa and talked much of wishing to take her there, but videos far better convey the wonder of the place.

Semi-Duplicate Pages

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 10:05 AM
While browsing through the wiki last night, I happened to notice that there are two similar, but not quite duplicate pages: Stock answer and Stock answers. These pages should probably be unified and the links to them fixed.

What Came Before He Shot Her

  • Jul. 10th, 2009 at 7:09 AM

What Came Before He Shot Her is a novel by Elizabeth George.  Published in 2006 it deals with the inexplicable real life case of a 13 year old boy accused of shooting the wife of a Scotland Yard Inspector, set in the Kensington area of London.  It describes something very much like Scarborough where I live.  It is maddeningly well written, it is like a social autopsy... I have cried great gobs of enormous tears... it is a book I will read again for the many passages that see so clearly into what is so impossible to fathom and yet too close not to acknowledge.

I was sitting in the front room brushing Diva (cat) and this came to me fully formed:

How could breath be so?

Despair scoops out the mellon of her folly
and leaves a chasm.
Sighs that reaches the depth of it
swirl, make a life where nothing else can grow.
