i don't expect that anyone has actually missed me, or even noticed that i was gone for a while, but i just like to let you guys know that my 4 day absence wasn't exactly voluntary.

i lost my internet connection last monday afternoon and i couldn't get back online until 30 minutes ago. the phone line is part of the package, so that went down with it. you should know that i'm still not back at work. i'll tell you more about this soon, i promise. okay, so i'm home on my own during the day, and that is why saskia left her cellphone here, so that i wouldn't be completely disconnected from the rest of the world. i wasn't that worried myself, but she described such a doom scenario and convinced me that i shouldn't be alone without a phone. "what if you fall down the stairs or get a heart attack or whatever.. you won't be able to call anyone for help!"
in many cases it probably won't make much difference, as i wouldn't be able to get to the phone anyway.. but of course, i didn't tell her that. i'm just glad she takes such good care of me.. :) and i agree, it's nice to have an extra phone in the house and that's why we're going to get another mobile soon.

certainly, losing your internet connection for a couple of days isn't the worst thing in the world that could happen. i like to think I'm not addicted to the net and i don't think i am, but that doesn't mean i didn't miss it.. not being able to talk to my friends or see what they were up to, is what i missed most..

Yeah, you were missed. :)

i agree! and even though everything's working fine now, they are going to send someone to my house tomorrow to check some stuff. i guess that means they still haven't got a clue what actually caused it..

Keep on them about it, let them know you know what you're talking about and they'll come up with something.

while she might be in some of the photos in my journal, you'll never see her face.. that's her choice and i respect that.

i admit i was a bit worried at first, i usually am when you don't post for days or even a week. i know you're feeling better but i wasn't sure if you had gone back to work yet.
i think most of us are not addicted to the internet, but like you i wouldn't want to miss it for too long. we could do without it i guess, but why, when it makes things more pleasant and convenient.

i was warned to take 'taking things slow' very seriously. :)
i'm planning to go back to work in a week, maybe not full-time at first..

yes there are, and they are fine for sending a few emails or something.. but i don't feel comfortable sitting there for hours to work on stuff online. besides, i would need too many files that are stored on my laptop.
