some thoughts on last night's oscars..

  • i saw much of it last night, but when i felt i couldn't stay awake any longer, i taped the rest which i watched today. oh and we didn't see all that much of the red carpet stuff, but we liked vera farmiga's dress a lot, and we both got a little worried when we saw suzy amis (james cameron's wife). she didn't look very healthy. but even if there's nothing wrong with her, being that pale and skinny, the dress she wore was a bad choice.
  • i noticed some people on twitter were very mean about molly ringwald when she presented a tribute to the late john hughes. hey the breakfast club was made 25 years ago and unfortunately none of us are getting any younger, are we? i must say i didn't recognize michael anthony hall, probably because i don't think i have ever seen him in anything else.
  • about time jeff bridges got an oscar, though i haven't seen his performance in crazy heart yet. but then, i haven't seen any of the nominated films. i think some of them haven't even come out here yet.
  • i was already planning to go see inglourious basterds and colin firth in a single man. i'll most likely add a few more films to that list.
  • it's good that they got some of the technical oscars, but i'm glad it wasn't a clean sweep for avatar.
  • i wonder why farrah fawcett wasn't in the 'dead people' tribute. and shouldn't bea arthur have been on that list as well?

yeah, I haven't even seen it, actually. I've just seen people post about it on facebook, and was glad that avatar wasn't the winner. I haven't even seen a couple of the films, such as crazy heart, either, though it looked pretty good.
