evariste who? and a dead photographer..

this is one of the things we brought back from our trip to belgium last december. found it in a charming little shop that sells all kinds of second hand things, mostly books and clothing items. i also bought a scarf and a novel by simenon: il y a encore des noisetiers.

this is a single - yes, vinyl! - with four songs on it, so i should actually call it an EP. i don't know anything about the singer. i did a quick search on google, but only other people called evariste came up. i reckon it came out in the sixties, but that's only a guess and not even an educated one.

i haven't listened to it yet. i don't have a record player! my parents do, but i'm not sure if it's still working and i have to persuade them to get it from the attic and plug it in.

i heard this on the radio:
helmut newton has been killed in a car crash in los angeles. he lost control of his limousine and crashed it into a wall. he wasn't one of my favourite photographers, but i thought you'd like to know about this.

It looks like we're in for another rash of famous people dying ... Spalding Gray went missing last week in NYC harbour and is presumed drowed, then Captain Kangaroo died and now Helmut Newton.

Captain Kangaroo is one of those childhood entertainers that you never forget.

What can I say about Lawrence ... I just love watching him ;)

oh yes... we have a lot of second-hand shops (are we that poor? :P), especially in brussels

my favourite is called Pêle-Mêle, they have loads of books, magazines (-> collages), comics, discs, movies.. and old movie posters
and there's also Retro Paradize, they have loads of vintage clothes (even incredible oh-so-flowerpower shirts :P)
